What is an E-Star Certified Home?
E-Star homes have exceeded state code minimums for energy efficiency, using better construction methods and higher quality materials. Standards for the E-Star certification are enforced by Energy Rated Homes of Virginia (ERHV). Testing for certification is provided by independent ERHC energy raters, ensuring home buyers an accurate statement of the home's energy score, which can rang from 1 to 5+ Stars. E-Star certified homes score a minimum of 4 Stars, equal to 80 points on the ERHV Rating Scale.
